What is hypnosis? It’s actually a natural state of mind for us. We experience various levels of hypnosis throughout our days. Here are a few examples:

  • You are driving home and one of your favorite songs comes on the radio. You find yourself singing along. Before you know it, you’re pulling into your driveway, but don’t remember the drive home. Your conscious mind was distracted by the song. Your subconscious mind took over, knowing how to get you safely where you needed to be.

  • You’re watching a movie. Maybe you find yourself angry at one of the characters. Or, maybe something happens in the movie that makes you cry. You know the movie isn’t real. You know that those characters are played by actors and that there are directors and a crew of people creating the world that you’re temporarily engrossed in. But, you’ve suspended that disbelief. You’ve immersed yourself in the story so much so that it affects you emotionally and physiologically.

  • You’re so focused on a task that you’re completely oblivious to what is going on around you and you lose track of time. When you finish the task, you’re not sure where your day went.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is often thought to be associated with sleep. Though many hypnotists use the word “sleep” during their sessions and 15 minutes of hypnosis can feel like up to 2 hours of really good sleep, you’re not really sleeping. You’re highly focused, highly relaxed, or in a state focused relaxation. Hypnosis sometimes feels like a really good day dream. Other times, it’s feels like what some people refer to as “being in the zone.”

Now that you know that you’ve experienced various levels of hypnosis and what it feels like, what can you do with it? If you’ve read my bio, you know that hypnosis changed my life. It can change yours, too. The subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between real and imagined. We can use this to our advantage by mentally practicing what we want to achieve. You can imagine the perfect golf swing, commit it to memory, and trigger it easily and effortlessly during your next game.  You can rehearse that speech that you’re supposed to give until it’s perfect and be more confident than you’ve ever been while giving it. You can let go of stress and anxiety and live in the moment. You can focus on a task and see it through to completion. You can get rid of bad habits and replace them with good ones. You can tap into an inner strength and wisdom that you didn’t realize that you had. You have more control over your mind, body, and emotions than you think. Together, we can create a blueprint for success, health, and wellness. Hypnosis is a quick way to make positive and lasting changes in your life.
