Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a healing technique that promotes relaxation and wellness. It was rediscovered in Japan in the mid-1800’s by Dr. Mikao Usui. The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese words, Rei and Ki. Rei means “Universal or Spiritual” and Ki is “life force energy”. So, Reiki is universal or spiritual life force energy. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. Anyone can learn it or receive it. You remain fully clothed during a Reiki treatment. The practitioner can administer Reiki hands on, lightly touching you or with hands hovering near your body. Reiki treats the whole person – mind, body, and spirit.

Karuna Reiki®

Karuna Reiki® builds upon the Usui system of Reiki. It provides the practitioner with additional energies to work with and different methods to use those energies. Karuna is a Sanskrit word that translates to “any action taken to diminish the suffering of others or compassionate action.” Therefore, Karuna Reiki® is the Reiki of Compassion. A Karuna Reiki® treatment is administered similarly to a Usui Reiki treatment, but may also include chanting or toning by the practitioner.

The Principles of Reiki
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today, I will let go of anger.
Just for today, I will let go of worry.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will show love and respect for every living thing.
